I would suggest running as a R/W instead of a W/R. Rangers hace frostbound armor which is 70 armor +30 vs ele +15 vs cold.

R/W runners are pretty successful but takes a lot more practice than a W/MO. Also, there are a lot of spawns that a R/W cannot make but a W/MO can.

@ Me NoFat: I don't have a 55 monk, but I made snakes with a 55 ranger ^_^
(yes you say: huh? 55 ranger? :P I have a druids armor with a few sup runes, add a 60% dp and you are down to like 60 hitpoints :P protective spirit to the mix, add troll unguent and there u go :P you get knocked a lot tough ^_^ takes ages to get there and crippling anguish = certain death)

Nice....now that is thinking outside the box. BTW happy to see you made it into the LBS guild. I look forward to gaming some in the future.

Which, in most positions looses a wurm chasing you where as 50% of the time 25% didnt loose them (This is going by my experiences it may not be the same for you).
W/E is a good mix and can make Droks it is just not what I prefer. There is a section on it in the OP that links to a beutiful post on this site.

Sprint
Charge (Maybe Escape for the 33% and dodge attacks)
Storm chaser
Dodge
Balanced Stance
Endure pain
Healing signet
For this space with my W/E I usually use IWS (I Will Survive) but maybe Disaplined Stance would work with a Ranger running skill to work quite nicely.

Weeping
Well Weeping I would have to agree that R running is fun and they can move faster for longer when it is your primary. It is possible to make Droks as a W/R or a R/W. The problem is that it is not as successful IMO. There are some that will say they make it more ofter that not and I have actually witnessed a great Ranger make the run on a hard spawn without much difficulty. I however would like to point out that the skill (route choice and use of aggro) of this runner was superb and he/she could have made it with almost any combination I listed in the OP.

Skills:

Dodge
Escape

Both fall under expertise so you would have to be a R/W for these to be effective. That means that sprint would become less effective but probably won't be needed. With Escape being your elite Charge would be gone. I am also not sure how Escape is classified without looking it up which I am currently too lazy to do. If it cannot be paired with Balanced Stance then that is a problem IMO even if you out run most worms.

I cannot say that I do not like R/W or W/R running. W/R is how I started. I just would not make it my 1st choice when doing Forge runs. It is possible but it lacks the time tested W/Mo combination that I have come to love.

Escape = stance
Escape + Balanced Stance = x_x

Edit: I use Charge + Balanced Stance on my R/W...

thats why an r/w goes charge instead of escape ^_^ really, dodge + stormchaser ftw oh and frostbound armor reduces the damage of frost worms to like 11 dmg :P

I have had 4 wurms once.

There are always 3 wurms but you only see 1-2 most times.

If you have all 3 on you just make sure you don't get knocked down or they surround you and you will get stuck.

Running as a primary R/W would give me all shorts of hassle. Especially as I am used to running in Glads and the energy is never a problem. Going as a Ranger sure you can chose Druids but then the Armour V Cold would go. I think I am still going to go as W/E. Im sure you can do it as a W/R and good job to those that do

Thanks for your comments in this. But Droks running isnt worth me getting the skills and learning to run as a Ranger :P

Like people have said 3 is no problem. 4 could be if your BS is running out :P The thing ive come to notice is that the Avicara chase me for a VERY long time. Now, one isnt a problem but it does cause problems sometimes. And, lonely grawls aswell! Now these are a pain! I have found that these also chase me for a VERY long time. Wurms usually stop chasing me after I put up Armour of Mist but these buggers wont give up for all the richs in the world!

The Avicara need to cast on you then keep running they will not follow.

If you have an avicara chasing you just stop when in an open area and as soon as he stops to cast take off again. This doesn't always work though. (I had one chase me through the whole zone once no matter what I did, it didn't kill me but me laughing did).

This is because there is a change in the monster group AI. Sometimes even after making a clean break from the main group, one of the monsters from the main body will chase you down for a great distance, beyond limit that was introduced to nerf farming.

This is Anet's nerf for the benifit that the farming nerf gave, the tracker will lead the rest of the group to the runner if he or she did not run far away enough. I find that this applies to individual creatures as well, because I once had wurms chase me all the way till just before the troll cave .

It does not happen often. When it does, it usually does not affect the run unless you are in a tight resting spot and the bugger calls his buddies over.

There are no wurms in the 2nd cave, not to my knowledge anyway, and they chased me down when i had both balance and charge on. I had expected to break away from them either through speed or distance. To date, I have not figured out why. I can only assume that the AI change also affects individual creatures. I have only experienced this once however.

Or.. it could be a bug, "Fixed miscellaneous bugs with the wurm monster AI." latest from the 2nd Mar updates.

So, they made the Wurm AI smarter did they? And the LT's Helm has been modified aswell. ANyone know what the wurms do now? I am pretty sure the LT's Helm wont have too much effect :P

Cheers
